Australia's First Extremest Party?

The Australia First Party was orinally incorporated in 1984 as the Australia First Party (NSW). Graeme Campbell, who was a member of Federal Parliament for Kalgoorlie from 1980-1998 founded the now National Australia First Party in 1996. More than a decade later Campbell's ambitions to see the AFP in parliament will take another step towards a reality as they are expected to be granted registration as an official political party this year.

The Oxford Dictionary defines extremist as "a person who holds extreme political or religious views" the question being asked is whether the AFP can be described as an extemist party.

The AFP NSW website mentions "All nationalists and patriotic Australians now have a political vehicle. They are urged to get behind AFP and should consider membership in the Australia First Party. The party is a registered party in New South Wales and will become a Federally registered party in 2010."

The party's has come under fire as due to their controversial policies that include, abolishing multiculturalism, reduce and limit immigration and control foreign ownership. Some say that these nationalistic views are racist and simply reworded into a political policy.

This country is based around immigration and multiculturalism, so if the AFP think that the policies they have set in place will realign this country with their views will they really have any chance at being a successful political party?
